WITH CLASS 6A BEING THE LARGEST CLASSIFICATION
for programs in this region, expect a number of teams in
Class 6A to have legitimate chances of making postseason
runs in 2016.
Pine Forest, which was defeated by Tate in the region
semis, appears to be the frontrunner after returning 10 offensive starters that include quarterback Xavier Saulsberry,
running backs Jaden Gardner, and Ladarius Wiggins, along
with junior standout Jacob Copeland who already holds
major college offers. Throw in three standout offensive linemen, and it would appear that the Eagles could have their
best team in years.
Do not count out Navarre, whose coach Jay Walls is
considered one of the top mentors in the state. A healthy
running back Michael Carter is essential. He went down in
Week 4 last season. But the Raiders have one of the top
offensive lines year in and year out.
Niceville is another top candidate if the Eagles can replace
Eli Stove (Auburn), and Romeo Finley (Miami). But the Eagles
have a storied tradition on their side and what is arguably the
best fan support in the area.
In Class 5A, West Florida has been a regular playoff
42-39, in the first round last season. Linebacker Kalia Davis,
