WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
“ARE YOU CRAZY?”
That is a typical response we receive when
we outline the planning and execution that goes
into publishing Friday Night Football Carolinas
Actually, when they see this year’s magazine
which now, for the first time, includes extensive
coverage on South Carolina high school football, those same people will say, “You’re crazy!”
This magazine you are holding in your hands,
or viewing on your tablet or computer screen,
is chock full of facts and figures, highlights and
accomplishments, previews and predictions. It
is also – and most importantly – packed with
photos and names of thousands of high school
student-athletes who are probably right now
sweating in backyards and fields across the two
states in preparation for the 2014 season.
It is for those individuals – plus the coaches
who lead them, the parents who guide them,
administrators who support them and the fans
who cheer them – that this annual edition of
Friday Night Football Carolinas is dedicated.
Publishing FNF Carolinas provides us with a
perspective that creates admiration and respect
for the thousands of people involved in high
school football – players and coaches, parents
and fans, booster club presidents and principals,
athletic directors and local businesses.
Since 2012, when we published our first
■ The tradition and talent in the
edition of Friday Night Football Carolinas, we
have had the chance to experience North and
South Carolina high school football from a very
unique, encompassing perspective. This per-
spective allows us to evaluate and identify why
we publish this magazine:
■ The magazine serves a written
history of the football season.
Carolinas deserve this magazine.
■ This publication helps players get
recognized by colleges.
■ We enjoy the process and the people
we interact with – a lot.
Everyone knows the Internet – and social media
in particular – has changed the way we consume
information and statistics. While the Friday Night
Football brand has added these components into
its media mix, we still believe the printed word
stands tallest as a documented archive of what is
what and what is soon to be.
We also have some unfinished business on
■ Further strengthen the connection
our chalkboard – and some future goals – I
would like to share. While thousands of you
view this magazine as the “ultimate source of
Carolinas high school football,” we want to con-
tinue to spread the word. Here are the ways we
will accomplish this:
■ Get every high school coach to
submit a questionnaire and informa-
tion on their team.
between football manufacturers, sup-
pliers, service providers, statewide
businesses and our readers.
■ Get every school in the state to consider our Custom Cover Project. Our
fundraising program that provides a
school with its very own customized
magazine, which includes their team
on the front cover and provides them
with a sizable profit in return.
■ Create ancillary educational and
athletic programs that further
connect high school football to the
While it is great to have goals, it is even more
exciting to present to you the 2014 edition of
Friday Night Football Carolinas.
We wish you, and your team, the best this
